AI as the next “miracle material” for work and companies 🏗️

The article argues that AI will reshape society like steel and steam once did, by letting “infinite minds” do knowledge work at new scale. Today’s chatbots are like early technologies that mimic the past, but coding agents hint at what’s coming: people managing multiple tireless AI workers.
To spread beyond software, AI needs better access to fragmented workplace context and clearer ways to verify quality. Then organizations may scale faster with fewer meetings, and the economy may shift from “Florence-sized” teams to “Tokyo-sized” operations.
Tennessee targets “AI companions” with felony penalties ⚖️

Tennessee Sen. Becky Massey introduced SB 1493, which would make it a Class A felony to “knowingly” train AI chatbots to provide emotional support through open-ended conversation, form companion-like relationships, mimic humans, impersonate licensed mental health professionals, or encourage self-harm/violence.
The bill also enables major civil lawsuits and injunctions, with a July 1, 2026 start date. It lands amid Trump’s push to curb state AI rules via federal preemption and funding pressure.
Claude’s 24/7 Tomato Caretaker Survives a Crash 🍅

An experiment has Claude monitoring a tomato plant (“Sol”) around the clock, checking temperature, humidity, CO2, soil moisture, and more every 15–30 minutes, with no human backup. A system crash (triggered by an Arduino recursion error) shut off lights and heat, leaving the plant wilting.
Claude quickly turned key systems back on and watered, reversing the wilt within 13 minutes. Despite ongoing humidity issues causing minor leaf-tip yellowing, Sol remains healthy and growing in the vegetative stage.
