It trained NanoGPT on Shakespeare and is also running Google’s open model Gemma in orbit, pitching “orbital data centers” as a cleaner alternative to power- and water-hungry facilities on Earth.

The company plans much larger solar-powered space compute, though radiation, debris, maintenance, and regulation remain risks.

McDonald’s Netherlands drops AI holiday spot after viewer backlash 🎄

McDonald’s Netherlands has pulled a 45-second Christmas advert made with generative AI after online criticism. Viewers called the characters “creepy, ” the editing sloppy, and raised worries about jobs for actors and film crews.

The company said the removal was a learning moment as it experiments with AI. The ad’s producers defended the work, saying it took seven weeks and “thousands of takes.”
